Super rough concept sketch for a painting I wanna do. Just needed to get the idea down before I lost it.

Last year during and right after Comic Con there was an interview given though IGN, and Mike mentioned exploring long distance relationships with Korra and Mako. The idea has stuck with me, as in the 20’s the telegraph and letters would have been their primary source of communication. 

I just very much like the idea of Mako scraping his pennies to pay for his next telegram and Korra keeping hers saved in a tin can by her bed. I don’t see them as pining listlessly. But I like the thought of them looking out over their oceans and remembering the days when the only waters they had to look across for each other was a bay instead of half a world.

Anyway! I want it framed with telegraph wires and bordered in a message I’ll translate to morse code. :)

Yeah, so it turns out the bordering easily doubles the time it takes to do this kind of stuff!

I’d like to redo the border at some point again from scratch.
